Evening Hymn

another day gone, another one comin'

another dollar earned, another dollar spent

lay down your head my pretty darlin'

you are weary you must rest

night winds are soft, crickets are singin'

and the stars are dancin' overhead

summer dreams are twistin' in the willows

you are lyin' in your bed

we all work to earn our comforts

we all walk a long and dusty road

but in the ease of every evening

you lay down your heavy load

may all your dreams be peaceful

may you find a middle way

may the angels bless and keep you

at the closing of the day
