Wishing On Stars

wishing on stars is for children

close your eyes and picture something perfect

imagine a sea to sail your dreams on

or someone's shoulder to lean on

i know your heart cries out to wish

on the whispering woods

on the curtains of rain

i know your heart cries out to wish

on the towering clouds

on the shimmering plains

i know you're tired out from reaching

you'll find there is a better way

wishing on stars is child's play

when the weight of your wanting has been lifted

fables and folktales could teach you something different

about how there's nothing to be afraid of

how learning to fall could teach us what we're made of

i know your heart cries out to wish

on the blood in your veins

on your wandering scars

i know your heart cries out to wish

on the strength of your feet

on the breadth of your arms

i know you're tired out from reaching

you'll find there is a better way

wishing on stars is child's play

stars they are distant and cold

lightyears away and a billion years old

wish on the wisdom or wish on the fall

or better still don't wish at all
